Hey, have you heard? Fort Pickens Road is finally open again! Fort Pickens Road is on Santa Rosa Island, and prior to Hurricane Ivan in 2004, Fort Pickens was the 10th most visited national park. Since it was re opened on Memorial Day weekend, it looks as though it will soon regain that status. The official ribbon cutting ceremony took place this week.
This is great news for our Pensacola Beach area. The Fort Pickens Gulf Islands National Seashore is a rare beach in it's natural state, and is such a wonderful place for camping, birdwatching, kayaking, and relaxing. Where else in the world can you visit a 19th century fort, go camping, fishing, scuba diving, or participate in dozens of free programs for snorkeling, stargazing, and tours?
Come and visit one of the most beautiful natural beaches in the world. It's open now!
